A human rights group is calling on Christians around the world to pray for the Pakistani woman sentenced to die for blaspheming Islam.
"Human Rights Focus Pakistan" has set a day of prayer for Asia Bibi on Sunday, Jan. 30.
The group is asking churches to pray for her release and for a repeal of Pakistan's blasphemy laws.
"It's an urgent [call] to gather all the Christian forces and device one combined strategy to meet this challenge," HRFP President Naveed Walter said.
"How far the religious fanatics and fundamentalists will keep on punishing our brothers and sister like Asia Bibi for nothing? How far [and] no one takes the initiative?" he continued. "It's a right time to start a movement."
Bibi, a Christian mother of five, was arrested after two Muslim co-workers accused her of insulting their prophet Mohammed. A local judge found her guilty last November and sentenced her to death by hanging.
