A baby girl in China survived a 10-story fall from her family's apartment window thanks to a stranger passing by who caught her.

Zhang Fangyu, 2, had been left unattended by her grandmother who left the apartment to run an errand.

Wu Juping, a 31-year-old mother, spotted the child dangling from the window as she was walking by.

Wu said she "kicked off her high-heeled shoes" and rushed to catch the baby.

"It was so urgent. I saw her when she was about to fall and rushed there, and after tens of seconds she fell off," CCTV quoted Wu as saying.

The impact knocked Wu out and fractured her arm.

The toddler suffered serious internal injuries. But after spending 10 days in a coma, the little girl woke up and called out to her mom and dad.
