Canada's political landscape could change now that conservatives have gained more seats in Parliament.

Monday's election gave conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper the majority he needed.

Liberals and Quebec separatists suffered a shattering defeat.

Harper has held the office since 2006.

But this is the first time his party can pass legislation without the help of the opposition.
