The newly formed Republic of South Sudan credits God for successfully gaining independence from Sudan in its national anthem.
The largely Christian country became the world's newest nation July 9 in a U.N.-backed referendum, ending a 20-year civil war.
Recently, a ministry at work in the country translated for CBN News the following verse from the new country's anthem, titled "South Sudan Oyee!"
"Oh God! We praise and glorify You for your grace on South Sudan, land of great abundance," the lyrics read. "Uphold us united in peace and harmony."
