The United States and dozens of other countries are moving closer to a direct intervention in the fighting in Syria.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joined other leaders at the Friends of the Syrian People summit in Istanbul over the weekend.
During the summit, the U.S. increased its financial pledge to $25 million and agreed to provide communications equipment to help the Syrian Free Army organize.
"We think Assad must go," Clinton said during one interview. "The sooner the better for everyone concerned."
Arab nations pledged $100 million to support the opposition fighters in Syria.
