Pentagon Sending Patriot Missiles, Troops to Turkey

The United States is sending Patriot defense missiles and troops to Turkey to help protect the country from missile attacks from neighboring Syria, which is embroiled in a civil war.

Four hundred soldiers are need to operate the two patriot missile batteries. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta signed the deployment order earlier Friday.

Turkey, a member of NATO, asked the alliance to send the Patriot missiles.

Germany and the Netherlands will also send defense systems to Turkey.
