CBN's Operation Blessing International is helping families to improve their lives by starting small businesses in countries like Guatemala where people have suffered from natural disasters.
The Virginia-based charity worked with a woman named Elsa, who lost her home in a tropical storm.
Her family moved, and she opened a small store to help make ends meet. But when her husband got sick, all of the family's income went to buy medicine.
Eventually, he passed away, leaving her and their seven children struggling to survive.
Elsa was unable to keep her store going until Operation Blessing stepped in and provided all the supplies needed to get it running again.
Now she's back in business and able to provide for her family.
Operation Blessing also distributed some 38,000 pounds of food and emergency relief supplies to victims of the disaster, helping more than 13,000 people.
