Nigeria Military: Boko Haram Leader May Be Dead

Ad Feedback

Nigeria's military says the leader of a vicious Islamic terrorist group may be dead.

Abubakar Shekau is the leader of Boko Haram, a radical Islamic group that has waged war on the government and Christians in northern Nigeria.

Nigeria's military said an intelligence report reveals that Shekau was mortally wounded in an attack on a forest hideout late in June and that he later died across the border in Cameroon.

Just a week ago, Boko Haram released a video in which Shekau claims the military lied about wounding and possibly killing him.

The military said that video is a fake.
