Deadly threats to American pastor Saeed Abedini, who is imprisoned in Iran, are increasing since being transferred to a brutal prison.
The American Center for Law and Justice reports Abedini has been repeatedly robbed and threatened at knifepoint by other prisoners.
The ACLJ also says his health is quickly deteriorating in the deadly Iranian prison, Rajai Shahr, where he was transferred in November. The horrible prison conditions have led to lice, malnourishment, and weight loss.
Iranian authorities refuse to give him medication.
"Iran has sent him to disappear," ACLJ Executive Director Jordan Sekulow wrote. "The U.S. government has abandoned this U.S. citizen. Pastor Saeed has been left for dead. We must be his voice."
Sekulow is with ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow in Europe, meeting with key foreign diplomats and world leaders. They're urging the leaders to apply pressure on Iran for Pastor Saeed's release through increased sanctions.
"The Obama administration abandoned this U.S. citizen in Iran -- releasing an Iranian nuclear scientist while refusing to even ask for Pastor Saeed's release in return," Jay Sekulow said. "But I am letting our friends in Europe know the American people have not given up on this persecuted pastor. We cannot and will not leave Pastor Saeed behind."
