World Compassion Terry Law Ministries is issuing an urgent call to prayer for the release of an imprisoned Iraqi pastor.

The ministry says that Abdi Ali Hamzah, known as Pastor Jamal, was arrested in 2011 for his faith.

"He has been in prison for 18 months now, and before that we sent him to Jordan to have some gammanite surgery done," Jason Law, vice president of Operations and the son of Dr. Terry Law, told The Christian Post.

"He had a tumor in his brain, and they believe that it is coming back," Jason Law continued. "From our understanding, he is now in a prison hospital but is not really receiving the treatment and care that he needs."

Dr. Law is specifically asking the body of Christ to pray for the following:

  • Favor that Law will be able to present Sen. James Inhofe's letter to Prime Minister Barzani.
  • Healing for Pastor Jamal.
  • That Pastor Jamal be freed while Dr. Law is in Iraq so he can be transported abroad for medical attention.
  • For people to share this urgent need through social media or any other means to reach as many people as possible.

Dr. Law is known for traveling to countries that are hostile to the Gospel. He has personally worked with Pastor Jamal delivering food to refugees in northern Iraq.
