Prison authorities in Iran reportedly are denying medical care to an imprisoned Christian pastor.

Present Truth Ministries told Morning Star News that Pastor Benham Irani's health is rapidly deteriorating. Irani suffers from acute stomach ulcers, colon complications, bleeding, and a blood infection.

Prison officials reportedly will not allow him to have medical treatment and even canceled a planned operation.

Irani, a house church pastor, is serving a five-year sentence for "actions against the Islamic state."

A judge also declared him an apostate from Islam, a crime that carries the death sentence in Iran.
