A U.S. drone strike has killed a senior Taliban commander in Pakistan.
Mullah Nazir was killed Wednesday night in north-west tribal district of South Waziristan along with five of his lieutenants.
He was a leader of one of the four major militant factions operating in Pakistan.
Intelligence officials said Nazir ordered several terrorist attacks on American and NATO forces in Afghanistan.
Nazir is one of the most high-profile insurgents killed by drones. The Taliban said a new successor has already been chosen.
