Despite anti-Semitic remarks by Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, the United States has gone ahead with its gift of four F-16 fighter jets to Egypt.
Fox News reported the jets left the naval air base in Fort Worth, Texas, on Tuesday.
The U.S. will give more high-tech F-16s, along with 200 Abrams tanks, to Egypt this year as part of a foreign aid package.
Some members of Congress have said the United States shouldn't go through with the deal, given Morsi's remarks.
"It is appalling that the Obama administration would send F-16s and 200 military tanks to Egypt in the wake of the instability, [and the] anti-American and anti-Israel atmosphere," Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, told Fox News.
