Pope Heads to Brazil for World Youth Day

Pope Francis returns to South America Monday to celebrate World Youth Day in Brazil. It's his first international trip since becoming pope.

Tens of thousands of Catholic youth are in Rio de Janiero, taking in the sights and picking up their gear for the event.

The week-long celebration includes a huge outdoor mass in a nearby Brazilian town on Thursday. Workers have cleared a field the size of seven football fields to accommodate the crowd.

The former cardinal from Argentina hopes to re-energize the Catholic Church in Brazil, where evangelical churches are growing stronger.
