Obama Taps former Bush Admin. Official for FBI Lead

Ad Feedback

President Barack Obama has chosen a new FBI director to replace outgoing chief Robert Mueller.

Obama is tapping James Comey, a former Justice Department official in the George W. Bush administration, to take the lead.

Comey is well-known for standing against intrusive government surveillance in the fight against terrorism.

The White House hopes Comey's bipartisan background and 20 years of law enforcement will help smooth his confirmation in the Senate.
