Argentine Evangelist Luis Palau spoke with CBN News about his relationship with the Catholic Church's first Latin American pope.

Palau met with Pope Francis several times over the years and says he regards him as a friend.

He told CBN News a story about one of those meetings just before Palau was to preach at a big crusade in Argentina:

"Bishop, any word of advice for me?" Palau asked former Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio.

"Yes," Bergoglio replied. "Speak to the young people the Gospel as clearly as you know how because, Luis, you know that 80 percent at least are really baptized pagans. They don't know Jesus Christ, the young people of Argentina today."

Palau then asked if the Cardinal had any more advice for him and was surprised by his response.

'No, what I'd like you to do is, would you lay your hands on me and please pray for me that God would fill me with the Holy Spirit and that I may honor the Lord till the end of my career,'" Bergoglio said.
