Peace Conference Last Chance for Syria?

Ad Feedback

An international peace conference may be the last chance to negotiate an end to Syria's civil war, according to the Coalition of Forces for Peaceful Change.

The United States and Russia want to hold the talks in Geneva by the end of the year.

The Syrian National Coalition said it supports the conference, but will only take part if President Bashar Assad's government allows humanitarian aid to go into critical areas in Syria. They also want the government to release political prisoners.

Meanwhile, Egypt has detained more than 1,500 Syrian refugees.

Human Rights Watch reports at least 250 children are among those detained, even some as young as 2-months old.

Egypt is forcing the refugees to leave, even if it means returning to war torn Syria.
