Anglican Archbishop Abducted in Nigeria

Ad Feedback

Nigeria's second highest-ranking Anglican archbishop has been kidnapped.

Officials say Archbishop Ignatius Kattey and his wife, Beatrice, were abducted Friday near their home in the southern city of Port Harcourt. His wife was later released unharmed.

Archbishop Kattey is the dean of the Anglican Communion in the country. Police say no ransom has been demanded.

Kidnappings of foreigners and wealthy Nigerians are common in Nigeria, with most released after ransom payment. But Islamists have killed a number of hostages in the northern part of the country.
