Iran's President Hassan Rouhani returned to a mixed reception in Tehran.

Crowds surrounded his car and shouted, "Thank you, Rouhani" as he rode through the streets.

They were excited about the prospect of contact with the United States after 30 years of diplomatic silence.

But not everyone was happy about their president's chat with President Barack Obama late last week. To them, Obama is the leader of a the country they call the "great Satan."

Several marched in the streets chanting, "death to America." Some reportedly threw eggs and a shoe -- considered the ultimate degradation in Islam -- at President Rouhani's car.
