The crisis in Iraq is stirring fears that Afghanistan could be next.

The concerns come as four Taliban jihadists struck a NATO post Thursday in eastern Afghanistan, near the Torkham border crossing, a key supply route for the alliance.

Thirty-seven NATO fuel trucks were destroyed by explosions set off during the gunbattle.

President Barack Obama, who wants to withdraw U.S. forces from the nation by the end of 2016, insists Afghanistan is not Iraq.

But critics fear the Taliban could rise up and wipe out all the hard-fought gains by U.S. troops.

"We've seen this movie in Iraq," Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said.

The Afghan war has lasted more than a decade and more than 2,000 U.S. troops have died.
