Engineer: New Malaysia Plane Data 'Just Noise'

Malaysia's government released dozens of pages of raw satellite data Tuesday used to determine where missing Malaysian Flight 370 went down.

Researchers gleaned from the data that the jet, which was en route from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing, turned south and crashed into the Indian Ocean.

However, an independent expert says the documents don't provide any new evidence to support that conclusion.

Michael Exner, a satellite engineer, said most of the data is meaningless and doesn't include key information needed to validate the search team's conclusions.

"It's a whole lot of stuff that is not very important to know," said Exner, who has been intensively researching the calculations. "There are probably two or three pages of important stuff; the rest is just noise. It doesn't add any value to our understanding."

No trace of the airliner has been found after months of searching.
