South Korea President Park Geun-Hye plans to disband the country's Coast Guard, saying she'll work to root out the regulatory corruption that many believe led to last month's ferry disaster.
In a televised address, President Park once again apologized for the disaster that left more than 300 people dead or missing.
She said that "widespread abnormal practices" triggered the sinking.
The incident has sparked a national debate over safety practices and exposed regulatory failures that appear to have allowed the ferry to set off with far more cargo than it could safely carry.
