A suicide car bomber struck a Christian neighborhood in Kano, Nigeria, killing at least four people Sunday.

"I heard a loud blast. And there was a lot of smoke. Soldiers came in to cordon off the place and ambulances were rushing people to hospital," witness Abdul Dafar told Reuters.

Boko Haram, the same Islamic extremist group responsible forabducting more than 200 school girls last month, is suspected in the attack.

Kano, one of the nation's most populous cities, is a mostly Muslim city where Shariah law is strictly enforced. The Christian area has clubs where people dance and drink alcohol, a violation of Shariah law.
