International leaders harshly condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G-20 summit in Australia over Russia's aggression in Ukraine.

Putin left the summit early, before the leaders opened talks on Ukraine. The Russian leader claimed he returned home to get back to work.

"We need nine hours to fly from here to Vladivostok and another nine hours from Vladivostok to Moscow," he explained upon his departure. "Then we need to get home and return to work on Monday. There is a need to sleep at least four to five hours."

"I told this to Tony (Abbott) and he was very understanding so I didn't give it a second thought," Putin said, referencing Australia's prime minister.

Meanwhile, the United States, Australia, and Japan condemned Russia for its actions in Ukraine.

Earlier, when Putin offered to shake the hand of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Harper said, "I guess I'll shake your hand, but I have only one thing to say to you: You need to get out of Ukraine."

After his confrontation of Putin, Global News quoted Harper as saying, "We cannot allow a major power in this age to seize the sovereign territory of another country and simply move on as if nothing has happened."

"If the world community eases up on Russia for its annexation of Crimea, it will only whet Putin's appetite for more such aggressions," he warned.
