The Vicar of Baghdad says the wave of Islamic terrorism is blocking him from returning to the Iraqi capital.

Canon Andrew White runs St. George's Anglican Church in Baghdad.

He's been visiting Jerusalem to celebrate the biblical Feast of Tabernacles.

White says church officials and the British Foreign Office believe he would be killed if he returns to Baghdad.

White joined thousands of Christians gathered with the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem to pray for persecuted Christians in Iraq and Syria.

Rev. Malcolm Hedding asked God to strengthen those facing martyrdom and to "bring down this great principality of Islam, in the name of Jesus."
