New Details in Foiled French Terror Plot

New details are emerging about the man French authorities say had plans to carry out another terror  attack near Paris. This one was specifically targeting Christians.

Authorities say 24-year- old Sid Ahmed Ghlam, an Algerian student was arrested in Paris on Sunday. His terror plot was foiled when he accidently shot himself in the foot and called an ambulance. He is also linked to the deadly shooting of a young woman.

In a press conference Thursday, French Prime minister Manuel Valls spoke about the incident. "In January, the freedom of speech, police forces and French Jews were those who were attacked, " said Valls.

"This time, without any doubt, with all necessary precautions, the Christians, Catholics of France were those who were targeted for the first time. Investigation should prove this," he continued.

France's prime minister also said six attacks, including this one, have been thwarted in France since the summer of 2013.

 "The threat has never been so significant," said Valls.

French officials say Ghlam was on a watch list of people who might try to travel to Syria.

Police arrested a person suspected to be acquainted with him - but police aren't releasing further details about the person.
