More than 500 people are dead and tens of thousands displaced because of fighting in Yemen, according the United Nations. At least 90 of the deceased are children.

Most of the casualties are due to air strikes from Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi government began the air war to support the Yemeni government, which has been fighting off a rebel offensive.

Yemen is a U.S. ally in the war on terror. The U.S. pulled military advisers and embassy personnel out of the country weeks ago.
