Al Qaeda in Yemen says its top Islamic leader has been killed in a drone strike.

Ibrahim al-Rubaish was a Saudi national with a $5 million bounty on his head.

He joined al Qaeda in Yemen after he was released from Guantanamo Bay in 2006.

Al-Rubaish helped provide religious justification for terrorist attacks.

Yemeni and U.S. officials had no immediate comment on the claim that he was killed.
