The Iranian-American reporter who was detained by Iran more than a year ago had his final day in court Monday in Tehran.

Iranian authorities took Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, 39, into custody in July 2014, imprisoning him on charges of espionage and distribution of propaganda against the Islamic Republic.

His mother and his wife went to the court Monday, but they were not allowed in.

Rezaian holds dual American and Iranian citizenship.

He's being tried by a "Revolutionary" court, which hears sensitive cases, including those allegedly related to national security. He could be facing up to 20 years in prison.

"He is very tired. He is very isolated," his mother, Mary Rezaian, said. "They do not have him with other people that he can speak with the same languages, English, Farsi and so he is very isolated."

Rezaian is one of several Americans, including Pastor Saeed Abedini, imprisoned by the Iranian regime. CBN News has reported extensively on Pastor Abedini's situation.

The Obama administration chose not to fight for their release as part of the Iranian nuclear deal.
