French Teacher Made Up Claim of ISIS Stabbing Attack

A teacher in a suburb of Paris who claimed he was attacked by a masked man invoking the Islamic State made up the story.

According to French prosecutors, the 45-year-old preschool teacher actually stabbed himself in his side and throat after claiming that he was attacked with a box cutter and scissors.

Earlier, the teacher claimed that a masked man entered his classroom as he was preparing for school and was attacked by the assailant who shouted: "This is a warning; this is only the beginning."

The incident comes one month after the Paris massacre by ISIS.

Growing concerns about terrorism in France were expected to result in a victory for a right-wing party in elections on Sunday. But voters instead threw their support to a more centrist party.

"I am thankful for the voters who answered the very clear call from the left to form a blocade against the extreme right which tonight has won no regions," Prime Minister Manuel Valls said.

"But tonight there is no relief, no triumphalism, no message of victory. The danger of the extreme right is not averted. I do not forget the results of the first round and of past elections," he cautioned.

Challenger Marine le Pen leads the right-wing party that lost. Some have compared her to Donald Trump because she holds similar positions on Islam and immigration.
