Police in Dublin, Ireland, are hunting for a masked gunman who robbed worshippers at an evangelical Christian mission.

Witnesses said the man used a sawed-off shotgun to threaten about 40 people, including children, Sunday at The Compassion Centre. He forced everyone to lie on the ground and empty their pockets.

The robbery took place in one of Ireland's poorest districts.

The robber threatened to shoot anyone who resisted and demanded keys for a getaway car.

Meanwhile, church leaders say they have already forgiven the shooter.

Senior Pastor John Eniol said the congregation prayed for the gunman soon after he left.

"We forgive him and would like to see him in church," he said.
