Negotiators will not meet their deadline for finalizing the Iranian nuclear deal -- again.

A senior U.S. official acknowledged on Sunday the talks will go past their June 30 target date.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif is heading back to his country for consultations with the government.

One of the main issues of contention is how much access Tehran should give to U.N. officials monitoring the country's compliance to any deal.

On Sunday, Iranian Gen. Masoud Jazayeri said foreigners would not be permitted to inspect any of Iran's military centers, adding that "pressure of sanctions" will not convince Iran to allow the United States or its allies to access its military information.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to press negotiators not to accept "this bad agreement, which is becoming worse by the day."

"It is still not too late to go back and insist on demands that will genuinely deny Iran the ability to arm itself with nuclear weapons," Netanyahu said.

The deadline has been extended to July 9.
