When the magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit Nepal on April 15, CBN Disaster Relief was one of the first relief organizations on the scene.

CBN plunged into rescue and relief measures with the first team reaching Nepal the very next day.

Eighty-three tons of relief materials including food supplies, such as wheat flour, rice, sugar, oil, tea and blankets, have been sent to Nepal.

Many who survived the deadly earthquake are in need of clean drinking water. CBN Disaster Relief teams have distributed liquid chlorine to purify water and make it safe for drinking. More than 200 gallons of chlorine are being made every single day.

A medical team of two doctors and three nurses are also providing desperately needed medical aid to those affected by the quake.

CBN Disaster Relief is also supporting the rebuilding of 10 affected districts in the country.

More aid is expected to arrive in the country Saturday, as trucks with relief materials have already begun the long journey to reach the affected areas. CBN Disaster relief teams on the ground are working to make the roads safe for the supply trucks to get through.

"I strongly believe that whatever hurdles we face on our way, we will be able to eliminate them and transport all these relief material to the disaster affected areas," Vikrant Kaushik, director for Interam Shifting Corporation, the CBN partner who will be transporting all relief materials to Nepal.
