Pentagon leaders say they're revising the U.S. strategy for battling the Islamic State caliphate in Iraq.

That comes two weeks after ISIS conquered Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province west of Baghdad.

Now the U.S. military wants to focus on quicker and better training and arming of Sunni tribes and Iraqi troops.

"One particular way that's extremely important is to involve the Sunni tribes in the fight - that means training and equipping them," Defense Secretary Ash Carter told reporters while traveling to Asia. "Those are the kinds of things the team back home is looking at."

Meanwhile, violence rages across Iraq.

Terrorists bombed two prominent hotels in the heart of Baghdad, killing 15 people and wounding dozens.

A spokesman for the Iraqi government's Anti-Terrorism Apparatus said more attacks on Baghdad are expected as the military tries to drive ISIS from Anbar.

And heavy fighting is ongoing near Mosul in northern Iraq. Security forces and Shiite militias there are still trying to take back the Beiji oil refinery from ISIS.
