Eye Witness: 'There Are Many Ways to Support Refugees'

Republican candidate Ben Carson's recent comments that Syrian refugees don't want to come to the United States may not be true for refugees who have fled to European nations.

Carson made the comments as he wrapped up his visit to refugee camps in Jordan. Although this may be the case for many of those in camps inside Middle Eastern countries close to Syria, those who have made the effort to go on to Europe tell a different story.

CBN News Reporter Abigail Robertson recently visited refugee camps in both Lebanon and France where people had varying answers on whether or not they want to return to their war torn homes.

Watch clips from inside the camp and hear CBN Reporter Abigail Robertson's reaction to Dr. Carson's comments.

Robertson agrees with Dr. Carson that many refugees in Middle Eastern camps like the one he visited in Jordan say they want to stay close to Syria so they can return home when it's safe to do so.

But many people who have made the dangerous trip to Europe have no plans on returning home. They do not believe there will be anything left to return to.

Still, Robertson agrees with Carson that we need to support the people on the ground inside the refugee camps who are helping to improve the conditions for the many families stuck there living in squalor.

"As Christians, I think its so important for us to know there are many ways we can support the people struggling inside these refugee camps," she said.

CBN Disaster Relief partners with many Christian groups around the world that are inside the refugee camps building churches and Christian schools, while also providing people with food, water, blankets, and many other necessities.

Throughout the next couple of weeks, Robertson will take viewers on a tour of what it's really like inside these camps. She will show people what CBN partners are doing to minister to the thousands of people who have fled their countries and are in desperate need of compassion.
