Israeli Citizens Still Support War against Hezbollah

CBNNews.comDespite growing pressure from the international community, Israeli citizens are still overwhelmingly supporting their war against Hezbollah in Lebanon. And Israel isn’t letting up in its offensive.

Today Israeli jets destroyed a key Hezbollah missile command center.

Israel’s air force scored a direct hit on a building in the Lebanese coastal city of Tyre. It is believed to be the source for hundreds of rocket attacks on Haifa, Israel’s third largest city.

Israel also struck targets in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley near Syria, which could be the storage site for Iranian Zilzal 2 missiles capable of striking Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Although the Israeli security cabinet has decided not to send a massive ground force into Lebanon, Israel’s army broadcast a stern warning Thursday to the south Lebanese: If rockets are fired from any village, that village will be leveled.

A new poll released in Israel confirms that Israelis are united in support of the fight against Hezbollah. 82 percent say the army’s offensive into Lebanon is justified, and 71 percent believe Israel should use even more force in attacking Hezbollah.

That hasn’t stopped the international community from pushing for an immediate cease-fire. Today, British Prime Minister Tony Blair is due in Washington. He’ll urge President Bush to seek a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

But the President has said that he will support Israel’s offensive for as long as it takes to erase Hezbollah’s war making ability.
