Another Life Changed

When I got the opportunity to interview Becky
for her new book, The Burning Heart Contract, I was thrilled!
That’s because September 22, 2000, I heard Becky speak at
a Women of Faith Conference in Denver, Colorado.
My life has never been the same.
At that time, she shared her testimony about how an hour a day
with God had changed her life, and how it could change my life
too. Something ignited. I was more than ready for an
adventure with God. I believed her and I began reading the One
Year Bible (NLT) every day and journaling my prayers similar
to how Becky teaches in her book, Let Prayer Change Your Life.
I was surprised to discover that the hour with God wasn’t
even close to boring, and it went so fast it often turned into
two!
Today my life is a total adventure! I used to have to try to
make things exciting for myself, which usually ended
up in trouble. Now, since I started really spending time in God’s
inspiring presence every day, I can hardly keep up with all of
the awesome plans He has brought into my life, which are better
than I ever imagined for myself!
Not long after getting started on my own hour a day with God,
He impressed a verse on me that seemed impossible. In fact, I
had trouble believing that it was meant for me or that it would
ever happen! In I Chronicles 16:24. It says, “Publish His
glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing
things He does.” When I read it, the Holy Spirit spoke to
my heart, and said “That is going to be you someday, Julie.”
Huh? Me? How? I haven’t even written anything (besides
journals) in years!
I wrote down the verse in my prayer journal and forgot about
it. But then, not long after that, I began writing out the events
of how God brought my husband and me together, because it was
just too good of a story to forget any of the details. I wrote
and wrote, and after about a year of working on it, it was a regular
book! One thing led to another and the book was published. Then
God led me to attend a writer’s conference where I made
some contacts (He even provided free airfare!).
After making the contacts, I began writing for magazines and
internet sites. Then…one of the sites that ran my articles
(CBN.com!) produced orders for my book. Lots of orders. And the
orders weren’t just from the United States. There was India,
Africa, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Canada…I was
mailing my book everywhere. One day during my regular daily Bible
reading, I came across the verse again. See Julie? My glorious
deeds are being published among the nations—just as I promised!
What a great adventure I’ve been living ever since I started
my own BHC! I encourage you to pick up a copy of Becky’s
