Workplace Giving & The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)
Your Gift is No Small Change
Annually, billions of dollars are donated to charity by individuals giving at work.
What are workplace Campaigns?
Workplace campaigns, sometimes called workplace employee charitable fund drives, are charitable programs conducted at places of work. Most gifts are made in the form of pledges for automatic payroll deduction, where contributions are deducted from an employee's paycheck over the course of the next year. Some gifts are one-time contributions.
The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)
In the federal government's campaign, known as the Combined
Federal Campaign (CFC), participation is open to a much
larger number of charitable organizations. National charitable
organizations qualify by applying to the US Office of Personnel
Management (OPM), either directly or through a federation.
CBN applies through Christian Service Charities (CSC) , and can be found listed
in the CSC Directory of Charities.
Workplace Campaign Mechanics
Each individual campaign is launched in a different way. Typically in any given workplace campaign, employees are given a brochure, which lists the participating organizations, and a pledge card. Organizations within the CFC are issued code numbers. The number for CBN within the CFC Campaign is 11731. (This number is not used in State or Corporate Campaigns.)
In many United Way or corporate campaigns, donors are permitted to designate their gifts to an organization of their choice. Ask your employer if you may designate CBN as a write-in at your workplace giving campaign. In doing this you may be required to provide the charities address, which is as follows:
The Christian Broadcasting Network
977 Centerville Turnpike
Virginia Beach VA 23463
Using all the information available to them, donors choose one or more organizations and/or federations to be the recipient(s) of their gifts and complete their pledge cards appropriately.
Most workplace fund drives occur in the Fall. Individual campaigns last anywhere from one week to three months. Automatic payroll deduction of pledges begins in January of the following year.
Why designate your gift to CBN?
As Christians, we are called to be the "salt and light" in this world. Our workplace is not excluded in this charge. The workplace offers us many opportunities to minister to others and to attract people to Christ by example.
We at CBN are reaching out to millions of people through our various outreach efforts:
- The 700 Club: Reaching 17 million people each month.
- Operation Blessing International: Clothe, feed and
give medical care to millions.
- The 700 Club Prayer Counseling Center: Ministers
on the phone to over 11,000 people a day.
Please consider giving to CBN this year at your workplace or CFC campaign. Make a difference in someone's life that can also make a difference for eternity.
You can preach the gospel around the world, provide food for the starving and hungry, take medical care to the desperate in need, give relief supplies and blankets to disaster areas, ALL WHILE SITTING AT YOUR DESK!
The King will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." (Matt. 25:40)
