Christian Leader of the Month
Tim Tebow
Professional Football Player
CBN.com By the age of six, Tim Tebow knew he wanted to be a quarterback. In his youth, he played a variety of sports, but felt there was something special about football that he couldn’t find anywhere else. It was that realization that led to him to the University of Florida, where he guided his team to not one, but two national championships, winning the prestigious Heisman Trophy along the way.
But football isn’t the only driving force in Tebow’s life. A child of Christian missionaries, he learned the importance of faith early on, and accepted Jesus into his heart at the age of seven. Today he serves as the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos and continues his work with the Tim Tebow Foundation, a charity that raises funds for children’s orphanages and hospitals. Through his steadfast devotion to his sport and to his Savior, Tebow continues to inspire his fans as a true leader, both on, and off the field.
On accepting Jesus into his life:
“[To his mother] I said I want to ask Jesus to come into my heart... and forgive me of my sins, and I asked him to make me a child of God. From that instant… I know I went from darkness to light... it was the best decision I ever made.”
On improving his game:
“I have so many things to work on and so many ways that I fail, but that’s what grace is all about... and I constantly wake up every morning, trying to get better, trying to improve, trying to walk closer to God.”
On how he hopes fans will remember him:
“I hope that they say this is a guy who, number one, loves the Lord, but who also loves people, that he is genuine, he is real, and he cares about people... it’s about relationships, it’s about making a difference in people’s lives, and at the end of the day, it’s about glorifying God.”
