Christian Leadership to Change the World
Stephen Covey: A Legacy of Leadership
CBN.com Every day, leaders create positive change in the lives of others around the world. Through mission trips, community events and other acts of service, these individuals illustrate exemplary character, strengthening their position as those who guide and mentor others. Their examples of leadership do not go unnoticed in the lives of those they touch and in the perception of those that follow them.
Before passing away last month, Stephen Covey spent his life equipping, teaching and inspiring leaders around the globe. He was a widely-respected thought leader and wrote several books, the most famous of which is The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. Since its publication in 1989, it has sold over 25 million copies in 38 languages.
The Seven Habits was more than just another self-help book. It outlined a new way to look at leadership and rose from a foundation of ethics and universal principles. Covey encouraged individuals to reach their potential by being proactive and setting goals, and he inspired leaders of businesses and organization to work constructively with clients, partners and employees toward a mutually beneficial solution.
Outside of his books, Covey was a university professor, a motivational speaker and a devoted father of nine children. He also co-established the Franklin Covey professional services firm, whose mission is to enable the greatness in people and organizations. Through his belief in the power of the individual, Covey has set a lasting example that will inspire generations of Christian leaders for years to come.
