You Help Children in Danang!
Posted: October 2010

One of the most difficult issues facing people who work in developing nations is getting the help that people need delivered to them in a safe way.

Vehicles are at a premium; roads (if there are any) are impossible for the most part and people pile on top of motorbikes, four or five at a time! Never mind our traffic laws and safety standards of helmets, etc. they’re just trying to get somewhere! Such is the case for one of our partners in the field, Orphan’s Voice run by Tony Brewer.

Orphan’s Promise recently supplied a van to help Tony in his work with orphans in Danang. Following are just a few of the uses for this much-needed vehicle:

  • Transporting a team of volunteers and materials to the Laotian border where they worked for 6 days at an orphanage school.

  • Partnering with a local church and Danang Int’l Fellowship in a joint medical outreach helping 350 people – the van transported volunteers.

  • Delivering 1400+ lbs of rice and other food to 63 families located two hours from our hometown (this is done on a regular basis).

  • Transporting equipment for disabled children, also transporting disabled children to areas where they can receive treatment.

  • Let’s not forget the rains, which make roads next to impassable on motorbikes. Tony and his family of seven all travel by motorbike, but during the rains, he will be able to transport children from the orphanage as well as his own, safely.

Previously, to travel any distance and to meet the needs of those who do not have access to help, Tony had to rent vehicles at the cost of $70-110 USD per day, this had become very expensive and uses money that is better spent helping others. Now, the amount of work they can do to help others has grown exponentially.

Thank you Orphan’s Promise for keeping your promise to help orphaned and vulnerable children in Vietnam!
