Background & Needs of Pairod a 16 yr old boy in Northern Thailand:

Pairod’s father was swept away by a flash flood in the mountains and his decomposed body and bones were found about one month later.

Pairod’s mother was pregnant with his younger sister at the time. Their animist grandparents believed that if a woman was pregnant when her husband died it would bring bad luck to their family, so they drove Pairod, his mother, and older sister out of their family and village, not allowing them to return. They stayed in an abandoned hut until the birth of Pairod’s new sister, after which time his mother found a new husband.

They were very poor and unable to care for their children so they sent Pairod and his older sister away to live and study at temple schools where conditions were terrible. Kids, dogs and cats slept on the floor without pillows and all shared one blanket. What little he owned was stolen and he was left with only the old clothes on his back which he would wear every day. Their food consisted of noodles, and very little else.

How Orphan’s Promise met the needs:

Orphan’s Promise helps support an orphanage called Liberty Kidz and Pairod’s mother heard about it and managed to get Pairod and his younger sister accepted.

They have now been living at the orphanage for almost 4 years. Orphan’s Promise provides $550 a month to Liberty Kidz Thai Orphanage for fresh food/meat for Pairod & the 38 orphans & vulnerable children who live there. Orphan’s Promise has also helped with sustainable projects to provide healthy food for all the children: meat chickens, egg-laying chickens, mushroom farm and a fish farm. OP provided gardening tools & equipment. OP also helped with renovations at Liberty Kidz including a new roof, plastering, painting, ceilings, fans, water heaters, bathroom facilities, mosquito netting, wardrobes, beds, mattresses, pillows, and sheets. School bags & school supplies were also provided for the children to attend school.

Significant life changes in Pairod:

Pairod and his sister now have found a loving and caring Christian family at Liberty Kidz where they will never been driven away again. Pairod has become a Christian since living at Liberty Kidz and is so grateful for the love of God that has been shown to him – a stark contrast to the animist beliefs that drove him out of his village. Here he receives nutritious meals, has a comfortable bed with his own blankets & pillows, and nice clothes. He loves to draw and play the guitar, and is a reliable helper with lots of new friends. He has a dream to serve the Lord when he grows older and when asked to draw a picture of his future, he drew a church because that is where he wants to minister.

Quotes/thanks from Pairod:

Thank you for your support. You have given me the opportunity to learn and live here.”
