Director of Orphan's Promise
Burma – this will be a close shave!
Posted: November 29, 2010

One of our amazing field ops in Asia, has been doing some serious physical training to get ready to go into Burma in an effort to help Orphan’s Promise provide help for the desperately needy children there. He will be working in conjunction with another in- country ministry and the trip will be a dangerous one. Due to safety concerns, during his time there, we will refer to him by a local name, Nya Doh which means “big fish”.

Many children from one of Burma’s remote states face terrible hardships amidst instability and violence.

In December 2010 and January 2011, Orphan’s Promise will be supporting a program, to bring healing and joy to the precious children caught in the middle of this conflict. This year’s tour plans to visit 12 sites, and minister to 3000 children from about 35 schools and villages.

The ministry stands by the words of Jesus in John 10:10, “For the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy, but I have come that you might have life and have it abundantly.” Through fun outreach activities, Bible stories, singing, drama, games, health & hygiene training, and health clinics, the ministry aims to help meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the children and communities they visit.

Orphan’s Promise (OP) has provided support for this year’s program by supplying teaching resources to share the Good News of Jesus with the children, purchasing team supplies, and providing 1,200 t-shirts for these children who have so little.

OP has also arranged with an organization called Faith Comes by Hearing, to donate 20 radio-like devices called Proclaimers. These devices play an audio Bible which can be heard by a community of up to 300 people. The Proclaimers can also run on solar power which makes them ideal for proclaiming the Good News in communities with many illiterate, where there is no access to electricity. At each site where the the ministry is held, a Proclaimer will be given to the village, and leaders taught how to use the device and take care of it.

God speed, Nya Doh! We will be praying for the success of your mission to these precious children.
