We have a wonderful report from Karen Springs who works with Orphan’s Promise in Ukraine.
It’s a big vision, a big prayer, a huge dream, but with God’s help, it can happen.
Karen writes:
A new vision is sweeping across Ukraine, a vision to be a country with no orphans by the year 2015. The vision is immense, but a new movement is gaining momentum, thanks to the newly established grassroots Alliance, Ukraine without Orphans.
Recently, over 500 Christians gathered in Kiev, coming from across Ukraine and other nations including Russia, Belarus, Armenia and the USA. For three days a group of Christian leaders, pastors, adoptive parents and orphan advocates gathered under one slogan and one common purpose: Ukraine Without Orphans.
Over the last year and a half, founding Alliance members have been at work strategizing how to bring different church denominations and organizations together with a unified strategy and vision for taking on the orphan issues in Ukraine. The team from Orphan's Promise in Kiev has had a privilege to play a strategic role and lend its resources for the formation of the Alliance, Ukraine without Orphans.
The Alliance aims to be a united Christian force before the government, to defend orphan's rights and to encourage the church to embrace God's call to care for orphans through support and adoption; the end result being no orphans by 2015.
Thanks to your support Orphan's Promise is able to play a strategic role in countries like Ukraine, by coming alongside nationals and seeing communities work together to answer the cries of the fatherless.
Thanks, Karen!
