Sometimes the needs of a child are so great and the country of origin so poor that we are compelled to help even though the children are not orphans. Such is the case of little, Marina. She comes from the area of Katmandu, and when I think of Katmandu, I think of somewhere at the end of the world. Well, she lives hours from Katmandu!
Marina’s family is very poor, but their hopes and dreams for their child are the same as ours; a home, food to eat, an education and a chance at life. However, 14-year old Marina’s was about to come to an end due to her physical condition; she had a faulty, heart-valve.
Her parents managed to get her into town (a hardship in itself) and by the time she got to the hospital, doctors were distressed at how bad her condition had become. They performed surgery immediately and said a few days later would have been too late.
Marina is a very grateful, little girl and she writes:
Praise the Lord after successes of my heart surgery, I am with my parents. These days my health is recovering better day by day. I am taking medicine in regular basis.
As my parent encouraging me to go school after a month by staying in rented room at near the School because of far school from my house, (Its take 2 hour by walk from my house, six kilometers up/down)
My desire also I want to go school in a regularly basis and fulfill my hobby. My hobby is interest in study more books and after finished my graduation I want to be a doctor and serve many people.
Because Marina will need help on an ongoing basis; medicine for the rest of her life, her schooling and boarding, books, food, clothing, computer and tuition fees, we would like to continue helping her. Marina’s goals and dreams are big and helping her get there will take a relatively, small investment of $75/month – this includes everything mentioned above.
Helping Orphan’s Promise is helping children just like Marina and thousands of others achieve their dreams of having a life worth living. Thank you for giving and for helping all of God’s children achieve those dreams.
