| Hung in hospital with leg cancer |
In March 2011, OP agreed to provide SEAR with a medical fund of $200 per month to help meet these special emergency cases. Fifteen year old Hung was the first child to receive a lifesaving operation from the fund. Hung had been struggling with bone cancer for a number of years and was introduced to SEAR because of his critical state. His upper left leg had swollen dramatically due to the cancer and urgently needed to be removed to save his life.
Hung came from a very poor farming family who lacked sufficient funds for the desperately needed operation. From just $200, SEAR were able to ensure that Hung’s surgery, medicine, blood, and other hospital expenses were met in full, and they even had funds left over to buy him a new wheelchair. Isn’t that amazing? Such a small amount of money can achieve so much!

SEAR Vietnamese staff expressed their deep appreciation and said, “Thank you for caring and supporting us with this medical fund to help poor children and their families who are critically ill. SEAR has been praying for assistance with this for a long time and now we thank the Lord that help has arrived. This medical fund will bring hope for many poor children like Hung who are critically ill.”
