Columbia
Four decades of intense strife between government and insurgent forces, heavily funded by drug cartels, has caused wide-spread problems for Columbia.
Tourism, once a major part of their economy has dwindled, and the poverty rate has climbed. Drug cartels have controlled much of the economy and held the public hostage.
Economic changes in the past 7 years have improved the situation for some, but the streets of Bogotá, Columbia’s Capital city, are filled with homeless and abandoned children. Street crime is high, and orphaned and abandoned children are a very common problem.
Orphan’s Promise has committed to helping some of the neediest of children in Columbia. We are providing humanitarian support for Christian schools and a transition house for children in and around the poor areas of Bogotá, in a partnership with CDA.
Orphan’s Promise will continue to provide for the needs of these and other children as we are able.
