Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan is the largest of the former Soviet Union republics in territory, excluding Russia. With a tremendous supply of fossil fuels and minerals, is has experienced a booming energy sector. Economic reform after the fall of the Soviet Block has helped Kazakhstan enjoy good harvests, and economic growth.
As with many of the former Soviet Union countries, not every citizen has experienced prosperity. Many people here live far below the established poverty level. Children are abandoned to the streets by parents who cannot afford to feed and clothe them.
Kazakhstan is a major marijuana farming country, also cultivating the opium poppy and ephedra, for the drug trade.
Orphan’s Promise has made a promise to the vulnerable children of Kazakhstan to provide aid and help them get a chance at a decent life. We have established 6 computer training centers operated with and through the volunteer efforts of local churches.
