Pakistan

Pakistan is a very impoverished and underdeveloped country. Decades of internal political disputes, low foreign investment and exports have helped speed this decline.

The 2008 Mumbai bombing attacks, and the assassination of presidential candidate Benazir Bhutto, have left a smoldering tension in this desperately poor nation.

Along with the inner turmoil and government instability, other problems are extreme poverty, a growth in the orphan population, HIV and AIDS related illnesses and death, along with infectious diseases. Pakistan has an almost 50% illiteracy rate.

Pakistan has also become a transit point for Afghan drug trafficking. Heroin poppies grown and harvested in Afghanistan are processed and shipped over the border through Pakistan to other shipping points.

Orphan’s Promise has made a commitment to provide help to an orphanage for disabled children. We have delivered school supplies along with humanitarian aid, and are regularly supporting the orphanage showing the love of Christ to the “least of These.”
