Honduras
Once again, Orphan’s Promise was asked by another orphan ministry in Honduras to assist them in providing for orphans who were housed in government facilities. These government-run orphanages are considered the end of the line for children who live there.
They have been abandoned by family, passed over by private orphanages and relegated to the government facilities where adoption is really not an option.
Honduras is the second poorest country in Central America, and since the devastation of hurricanes Georges and Mitch in 1998, the coffee and banana industries have suffered tremendous losses resulting in mass unemployment and on-going poverty. This has resulted in a major increase in abandoned children throughout the country.
Orphan’s Promise is committed to help provide for these kids who, through no fault of their own, have fallen into the government warehouse for unwanted children.
With the assistance of Honduras’ First Lady, and INFA, their social services department, we are helping to provide education, skills training and various programs for at-risk children. There is a program of counseling for sexually abused children and we are even helping to provide food and clothing for these needy kids. Orphan’s Promise is here to help the “least of these.”
